Situations like Week 5 don’t happen very often, but that’s why you have #staywoke. Week 6 is more balanced but means streaming is definitely important with no Thursday games (Thanksgiving), 20 teams playing four times and 10 teams playing three times.
As we head into Week 6 of the 2018-19 season, here’s the weekly game breakdown:
4 Games: ATL, BKN, BOS, CHA, CLE, DEN, DET, LAC, MEM, MIL, NOP, NYK, OKC, PHI, PHX, POR, SAC, SAS, TOR, UTA
3 Games: CHI, DAL, GSW, HOU, IND, LAL, MIA, MIN, ORL, WAS
Recommended pickups for Week 6:
Guards
Jeremy Lin
Linsanity is back! He’s had double-digit points in three out of his last five games. He also has a respectable 22 assists in that span (3.6 per game), and he’s played at least 20 minutes in three out of his last five.
Cory Joseph
He’s played alongside Darren Collison in three straight games and has gotten at least 26 minutes in his last five games. In that span he’s averaging a respectable 8.4 points, 3.6 dimes, 3.4 boards and 2.2 steals. He could steal some of Collison’s minutes if he doesn’t turn things around.
Patrick Beverley
Pat Bev has always been a guy you can count on for defensive stats. His FG% (36.0) is looking a little rough but he’s dishing out 4.2 dimes per game, and his 0.7 steals are bound to come up if his history tells us anything.
Shelvin Mack
In November, he’s averaged 13.3 points, 3.8 assists, 2.9 rebounds, 1.5 steals, and 1.9 triples. Forty-four percent of his minutes have been off the ball at SG, so that’s been the key to his success.
Forwards
P.J. Tucker
This is an easy decision. He’s bound to put up nice stats considering he’s played at least 31 minutes in every single game this season. Tucker is great for steals and 3-pointers.
Kevon Looney
Looney might have a shot at top-100 value in Week 6. He’s been the most productive out of the three centers in Golden State, averaging 8.3 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.7 blocks over his last three games in 21.0 minutes. It also helps that Draymond Green is on the shelf with a toe injury.
Trey Lyles / Juancho Hernangomez
Lyles has scored in double digits in five of his last six games, before his two stinkers. Hernangomez is the better guy here. He had a 25-point, 9-rebound game vs. the Hawks this past Friday and has averaged at least 30 minutes in three straight.
Centers
Ed Davis
He’s averaging 8.1 boards in under 18 minutes per game and is third in the entire NBA in total rebounding rate. If you’re looking for rebounds he’s your guy.
Dewayne Dedmon
Since Dedmon’s return, he’s scored double digits along with a double-double. His numbers are good enough to warrant a roster spot in standard leagues and he won’t kill you in percentages. Dedmon has an easy path to 24 minutes.
Thon Maker
Maker has some appeal in deeper leagues for his per-minute production in blocks and triples. John Henson (wrist) is likely out through the All-Star break. It’s all about the opportunity here.
