Tout Wars Daily, Cycle 1, Week 1

Suddenly a spate of DFS contests are indeed kicking into gear. You can play against me with the fun and flexible rosters at Fantasy Draft and RealTime, you can play against the Creativesports 2.0 staff, and here the gaggle of Touts get to match up against one another at Draft Kings.

Tout Daily consists of a collection of four-week tourneys, which will produce three top teams, each winning a golden ticket to a two-week tourney come August.

You can check the Touts picks for the day at the Tout Wars site, but my special picks — one hitter, one pitcher — for the day will be covered each week both in this space and at the Tout site with the rest of our highlighted selections.

Luis Severino ($10,500): How much fun is it to view the Yankees/Red Sox rivalry, picking it up this early in the year with the best starter on each team taking the mound? Severino has simply picked up where he left off last year, winning his first two starts, whiffing 14 over 13 innings, posting a 0.77 WHIP and 1.39 ERA. In fact, this is a game where picking both starters, looking at the pair of hurlers generating a successful point base for a DFS team, is a great angle to play.

Streve Pearce ($3300): Pearce seems to be one of the Saberhagenmetric guys, who rotate a strong season with a lesser one, and this year, as witnessed by his .286-3-8 line with a 1.110 OPS, seems to be a good one.  At just $3300 and going up against Andrew Cashner, who keeps the ball in the zone but allows homers (four over 11 frames this year) and base runners (eight hits, four walks), he is a likely target.

Tune into the Tout Wars Hour on the FNTSY network, hosted by me, with Justin Mason and featuring Lord Z every Thursday night at 9 PM ET and follow me @lawrmichaels.
