Top 150 Dynasty Prospects

With the offseason in full swing, this would be an excellent time to start looking at where things stand after an unprecedented season. As expected, there were plenty of surprises in the shortened 60-games, with some new players emerging and some fantasy stalwarts struggling. There will be several different approaches managers take to project next season, and my only hope is that we get an undisturbed 2021 campaign.

From a prospect standpoint, it was a challenge following players with limited information coming out of alternate sites. There was no actual Minor League season to pull data from this year. The best players in each organization had the opportunity to develop around players further along in the process, picking up invaluable experience and lessons. It is too early to say what the long-term implications of this will be, but there is little doubt that this has fast-tracked the development of some prospects.

Today is an exciting day personally because I get to unveil my Top 150 Dynasty Prospects entering the offseason. This list is something I have wanted to do for a long time, and I am thrilled to have the opportunity. Prospect rankings are something that is consistently evolving. Because of this, I have decided to create an Excel spreadsheet that I will share on Twitter in the near future. My hope is this will help anyone who reads the articles to follow my prospect rankings throughout the offseason and leading into draft season. As my research and familiarity with each player evolves, the list should grow in size and accuracy.

There are different approaches to ranking fantasy prospects. Some people prefer the safety of players who are relatively close to the Major Leagues and will rank them higher than their overall skillset might dictate. Other people prefer the allure of upside and are willing to aggressively rank relatively unproven players that they perceive have unique qualities. Full disclosure, I fall in that second group, although I am trying to find more of a balance. With my recommended approach of targeting upside players with superstar potential, I tend to be aggressive with certain types that I believe in their upside.

These rankings are for dynasty leagues that use the traditional 5×5 categories, with a particular focus on OBP instead of AVG. In general, I value hitters over pitchers, and proximity to the Major Leagues is a factor. Should you notice pitchers ranked highly, or young players who seem to be far away from the Majors, it is safe to assume that I like them quite a bit. Without further ado, I present the future of fantasy baseball!
