Lawr’s PGA DFS Picks for the Valspar Open, 2018

The PGA Tour stays in the sunshine this week, moving to Orlando, Florida, and the Copperhead course at the Innisbruck Resort.

Copperhead is another monster course, with a 7,209 total yardage that includes four par fives — one logging at 607 yards, and a second at 590 — though unlike last week’s Mexico Championships, Copperhead is at sea level.

Similarly, there are four threes on the course, all greater than 188 yards on the par 71 course with just one four under 400 yards. The big hitters are again where I am going in a week with a good field that Adam Hadwin owned in 2017.

Here is where I am going and don’t forget you can join a foursome playing the DraftKings Weekly Hybrid PGA.

Tony Finau ($10,900): Finau’s final Copperhead round last year with a 64 — lowest among the entrants — and is eight of nine finishing the weekend this season. He is averaging 77.4 points but ranks #1 overall in driving distance at 323.7 yards.

Justin Rose ($10,000): 8-8 with five top 20s at Copperhead between 2004-2014,  with six top 10s in 2018 while again making eight cuts over eight tries, averaging 96.5 points a week. Rose has a pair of wins this season and is ranked #6 in driving distance at 317.8.

Chez Reavie ($7900): Reavie has been a DFS revelation this season, playing all weekend 11 straight times while averaging 80 points a week. His drives are clocking 291.8, just #140 overall, but the consistency is the thing.

Jason Dufner ($7800): Dufner has made six straight top 25s at Copperhead,  with nine cuts out of nine tries at Innisbruck, making him a nice low-end selection. Dufner’s 295.4 drive average ranks at #104.

Luke List ($7800): List has a pair of top 10s this season, with eight cuts made of 11 tries, but he ranks #5 overall with a 317-yard drive average.

Martin Flores  ($6700): Another good — and mostly steady — undervalued tour member, Flores has made seven of 10 cuts but nails his drives 300 yards, ranking #67.
