We’re on the heels of an interesting PGA, and I trust you too slotted Stuart Cink as a sleeper, for he was a money-making difference maker for me last week.
But, that is history and this week we move on to Greensboro, North Carolina and the Sedgefield Country Club for the Wyndham Championship.
Sedgefield offers a respite for the lighter hitters, logging in at 7,130 yards with three true fives: hole 5 five at 531 yards, hole 15 at 522, and hole 18 which just tips its relative century mark at 509. Then there is a troika of 4/5’s — ranging from from 420 to 476 yards.
Four par threes range from 165 yards (#160) to 245 (#12), leaving nine true fours ranging from 376 to 488 yards. It is clear precision that will seal the Sedgefield deal, hence I looked at Greens in Regulation (GIR) and also skill from 100 yards in at nailing the carpet.
Being the South and summer, with typical sultry and sometimes wet weather, we will be hunting the 156 golfers teeing up Thursday for the entire weekend.

Henrik Stenson ($16,600): Stenson comes in among the favorites this week, riding five top 10s and 11 cuts over 13 tries. He does rank lower — #192 — at hitting the greens at less than 100 yards, but the overall skill set and he is the defending champ.
Rafa Cabrera Bello ($16,000): Cabrera Bello has top 20s the past two weeks and finished among the top five at Sedgefield in 2016. Cabrera Bello is #78 at GIR under 100 nailing 81.25% of his shots.
Juaquin Niemann ($15,500): Niemann comes in with eight cuts made over 12 tries, with four top 10s this season, but he also ranks #5 at GIR banging 93.02% of his shots under 100.
Steve Stricker ($14,300): Steady Steve Stricker has played a full 10 weekends out of 11 tries, and though he just has a couple of top 10s, Stricker rates at third best at GIR less than 100 yards this week (he was #1 last week) with 94.74% success factor.
Sean O’Hair ($11,400): Looking for the value picks, O’Hair also owns just a pair of top 10s this season and has barely made half his cuts with 11 made out of 20 tries, but he ranks #6 at GIR with a 91.67% rate.
J.J. Henry ($11.100): Again, looking to the cheap plays and trying to exploit GIR, Henry ranks #9 (down from #8 last time) with a 91.07% rating. He has made 13 of 26 cuts, scoring a top 10 at the John Deere a few weeks back.
