Buster’s DFS Picks for the RealTime 50/50 Challenge, August 14, 2018

Want to take on the Creativesports 2.0 staff, braino-y-braino, at  DFS?

Well, you can indeed at RealTime Sports, matching up against Creativesports 2.0 writers, and get some bragging rights in the process.

Tune in here daily, as we pick up the Creativesports 2.0 gauntlet where you can play our daily 50/50 game ($5) or come right after us — for we will rotate experts — on Fridays in the free Beat the Experts contest. Beat us and you can win $2, and that might be easier than you think!

Today, we look at a couple of lower priced options to start your team.

Patrick Corbin ($6300).  It’s a tough day for pitching, as you can go with chalk (Corey Kluber, Justin Verlander or James Paxton) but what fun is that?  Alex Wood has a nice matchup, but he’s not going to pitch a complete game, and the Dodger bullpen is a mess, so a win is unlikely.  Pitchers facing Baltimore are generally an easy pick, but today it’s Jason Vargas.  No thank you.  The same is true for hurlers facing Miami, but there’s no way I’m recommending Anibal Sanchez.  So, for reasons more due to outside circumstances, today’s pick is Patrick Corbin.  Corbin is no slouch, has been productive in three of his last four outings, and draws a banged up and offensively challenged Ranger team.

Eduardo Escobar ($4300).  Escobar, returning to the AL to play in Arlington, is today’s offensive pick.  He’s reasonably priced at $4,300, he’s in a good hitter’s park (.300 average over the past three years, with a home run every ten at bats), and he’s facing Yovani Gallardo. Enough said.

Best of luck.  Don’t blink,

Buster
