The PGA season hit a restart this last week, as the great Ryder Cup finale took place in Paris. This was really my first Ryder Cup of tracking players, though I did not play any DFS. But, I found the varying formats for scoring a lot of fun.
And, I don’t know about you, but I wish Patrick Reed would shut up about how Jim Furyk assembled his roster and paired guys. I don’t feel it was to embrace failure, as seems to be Reed’s premise, but honestly, who really cares? Sour grapes won’t go far, especially in the wine country this coming weekend, where Silverado is the hosting club.
Logging in at a modest 7,166 yards — but with longer threes (193-yard average), shorter fours (391 average distance), and modest fives (529-yard average) — Silverado certainly poses a challenge, boasting a par of 72,
And, after a terrible Tour Championship showing and mesmerizing Ryder Cup, it’s a new season, and nailing the green in reg from 125-150 — basics, that is — I went.
As for the weather, it looks like typical Bay Area weather for this time of year, with the highs ranging from 71 to 81, and the lows dropping 10 or so degrees. But, overcast is to be expected here and there.

As usual, I’m playing the $1 Triple Up at FantasyDraft, a format I really like because they drop the low score from your seven-man roster ($100K cap) for the weekend, so sign up and see if you can beat me!
Phil Mickelson ($16,200): Clearly, I am the victim of man-crush, but Phil is so easy to get stuck upon. We are starting the tour scoring over, but with an average tourney points of 123.52 Mickelson is still a pretty good pick.
Emillio Grillo ($15.800): Grillo ranks at #9 at GIR when out from 125-150 yards, nailing 78.07% of his shots while averaging 111.12 FPPW.
Adam Hadwin ($15,8000): Hadwin made a rush to the Silverado Finals but just missed the last three years, so ideally the powerful Canadian should be poised for a big tourney.
Adam Svensson ($14,000): Svensson is starting all over it seems, with a pair of tourneys last year and just 55 points FPPW and an average score just under par at 71.05.
Richy Werenski ($13,500): As of this week, Werenski only had a pair of cuts to his resume as well.
Roberto Castro ($12,500): Castro is another bargain purchase as we try to get into the groove of a new season and tourney — 74.5 points PFW with no where to go but up!
