As if RotoWire’s Clay Link needed to prove has solid he is at DFS and the Tout Wars daily contest,Link took top point honors for Week 3 in a down day of points. Link pulled ahead with just 119.45 points, besting Jeff Boggis (116.25) and fellow Jeff and RotoWirian Jeff Erickson, who logged the third spot with 115,40.
Add in that another RotoWire voice, Derek Van Riper holds the first spot for a ticket to the finals with 380.45 points, while Michael Beller (361.80) and Justin Mason (350.55) comprise the rest of the top three in a tight cycle where the winner will be determined following tonight’s game with the All Star schedule bumping the normally Tuesday match-up to tonight.
The overall contest is being waged at DraftKings and is nearly three-fifths through, which suggests the season has slipped away so quickly, but there you have it. The tourney is desperate for finalists not named Link, Zola, or Wolf, so root for Brian and Bret, and even Jeff Boggis and me if you will!
You can check out the leaderboard as the season progresses, along with a wrap-up on ToutWars every Wednesday.
For the archivists, totals are gathered for all participants over five four-week periods, with the top three point-scorers per period getting golden tickets to the survivor tournament. That’s where the player with the most points after three contests will be crowned champion. Additionally, the highest-scoring player over all 20 weeks earns a wild-card entry to the tournament.
You can see the Touts’ recommendations as participants suggest a pitcher and hitter every Tuesday on the Tout Wars site.
David Price ($8000): Price gets to face Detroit who do hit left-handers at a reasonable pace, but with very little pop (just 22 homers). I am guessing Price, with a long rest, can do his thing against the generally punchless Tigers.
Colin Moran ($3700): Moran faces Tyler Mahle (4.02, 1.44) who gives up a lot of dingers (17 over 100.2 innings) in a game that should be fun to track with potentially a lot of points.
