Jeff Boggis was the high scorer for the final cycle of Phase III of Tout Wars Daily with 172.60 points, but it was Bret Sayre, Derek Carty, and Steve Gardner who finished atop the standings earning those precious golden tickets to the finals, adding their names to Clay Link, Todd Zola, Rick Wolf, and Ray Murphy.
That means two more cycles and ostensibly six more slots left as we enter the first phase of Phase IV. Meaning for now, all bets are still off.
The overall contest is being waged at DraftKings and is nearly three-fifths through, which suggests the season has slipped away so quickly, but there you have it. The tourney is desperate for finalists not named Link, Zola, or Wolf, so root for Brian and Bret, and even Jeff Boggis and me if you will!
You can check out the leaderboard as the season progresses, along with a wrap-up on ToutWars every Wednesday.
For the archivists, totals are gathered for all participants over five four-week periods, with the top three point-scorers per period getting golden tickets to the survivor tournament. That’s where the player with the most points after three contests will be crowned champion. Additionally, the highest-scoring player over all 20 weeks earns a wild-card entry to the tournament.
You can see the Touts’ recommendations as participants suggest a pitcher and hitter every Tuesday on the Tout Wars site.
Frankie Montas (7600): Perhaps the steadiest of the Athletics hurlers these days, Montas faces the largely anemic Tigers, batting just .241 against right-handers.
Jose Ramirez ($5700): Ramirez is expensive, but he not only rakes, and bats left, and Ramirez and his Tribe mates face Carlos Martinez who is 0-2, 8.16 over his last four starts with a 2.580 WHIP allowed.
