Danny’s Picks for the RealTime 50/50 Challenge, June 29, 2018

Want to take on the Creativesports 2.0 staff, braino-y-braino, at  DFS?

Well, you can indeed at RealTime Sports, matching up against my Creativesports 2.0 mates and me, and get some bragging rights in the process.

Tune in here daily, as we pick up the Creativesports 2.0 gauntlet where you can play our daily 50/50 game ($5) or come right after us — for we will rotate experts — on Fridays in the free Beat the Experts contest. Beat us and you can win $2, and that might be easier than you think!

We’re looking at an excellent Friday slate, with the Yankees and Red Sox squaring off in the Bronx and aces like Gerrit Cole, Jacob deGrom, Jose Berrios and Trevor Bauer toeing the rubber for their respective clubs. The weather looks great across the land, but remember to check your lineups late for any unfortunate benchings.

Nick Pivetta ($4800): The young Phillies right-hander is pitching better than the statline suggests. Winless in his last six starts, Pivetta’s 3.80 FIP and 3.13 xFIP over that time contradict the 5.46 ERA. On the season, he’s 4-6 with a 4.06 ERA and 101 strikeouts against 24 walks. He’s got a rematch with the Nationals, whom he held to two earned over five innings, striking out seven last time out. The outing before that, he spun 7.1 excellent frames, striking out 13 Cardinals.

Eric Thames ($4500): Thames hasn’t exactly caught fire since coming off the DL on June 12, but he’s still putting up counting stats with three home runs, seven RBI and two stolen bases over those 52 plate appearances. He’s facing the Reds and Sal Romano (1.48 HR/9) in Cincinnati’s tiny ballpark.
