Well, it’s the last week of regular season baseball.  Sad times, no doubt. DFS in the last week can be a challenge due  to the fact that players rest, managers test out new players, and virtually anything can happen.  Keep an eye on starting lineups and be prepared to make last minute switches as needed.

We hit big last week on an underpriced Blake Snell (5 innings, no earned runs, five strikeouts and a win) and Ronald Acuna (home run).  Let’s see what this last column can do.

Walker Buehler (6500):  We’ve shopped in the bargain basement for weeks, but frankly, that proverbial cupboard is bare today.  Buehler is the sixth most expensive pitcher on today’s slate, but he will return #1 value.  Buehler is coming off of a dominant six inning, 12 strikeout performance at home against the Rockies, and draws a disinterested (and eliminated from potential playoff competition) Arizona squad.  Buehler faced the Diamondbacks once this year, recording nine strikeouts and giving up just one run in over six innings. Expect the same tonight.

Kole Calhoun ($4200). I’m guessing that no other site is suggesting that you choose Kole Calhoun, and for good reason. Calhoun has been awful over the past ten games, amassing (?) two hits and scoring twice.  He’s hitting .095 in September and just .205 overall.  Yet, he has a favorable matchup against Yovani Gallardo and a beleaguered Rangers bullpen.  Gallardo has been as bad as Calhoun has been in September, and if there ever was a time for Kole to go big, it’s today. Yes, it’s a colossal risk, but with great risk comes great reward, or something like that.

Best of luck. Don’t blink.

Buster
