Like day traders on The New York Stock Exchange, we want to maximize our profits in fantasy trades. The best way to accomplish that goal is by sticking to a Buy-Low, Sell-High mentality. Meaning that whenever you are sending a trade offer, you should always target players whose value is low and trade away players whose value is high. For example: DON’T send an offer for Tyreek Hill who just had a three touchdown performance. Admittedly, the early part of the season is a difficult time to finalize a deal because every fantasy owner is less focused on production and more focused on where the player was drafted. Fear not, we have a list of some incredible trade options for this week including a player that you need to send an offer for TODAY.
Sell High:
Isaiah Crowell – New York Jets
Crowell’s first game as a Jet went fantasticly. The former Brown posted a 100 yard rushing performance to go along with a pair of touchdowns. The only issue is, he only received 10 touches. That is completely unsustainable and his lack of involvement in the passing game was concerning. Considering Powell out-touched him 14 to 10, its difficult to imagine Crowell ever being more than the early-down/ short yardage back. That has extreme volatility week to week and is a situation to avoid so try unloading him while he is at peak value.
Randall Cobb – Green Bay Packers
I am a huge believer in Cobb this season but you have to accept offers for him. The veteran is coming off a monster game with a 75-yard game winning touchdown. Every fantasy owner was watching that game which means, everyone wants a piece of him. His role is still safe and Cobb will continue to perform as the between the 20’s PPR outlet for Aaron Rodgers. By putting Cobb on the trade block you aren’t only selling high on a player at peak value you’re also mitigating risk. Randall Cobb is a serious injury concern and now Rodgers is dealing with a knee injury. Don’t give him away from free but certainly throw some offers out there.
Buy Low:
Devin Funchess – Carolina Panthers
This is the absolute MUST TARGET player of the week. Devin Funchess was a safe and consistent WR2 last season with upside while Greg Olsen was out due to injury. As of this week the Panthers will be without Olsen for the foreseeable future which immediately skyrockets the value of Devin Funchess. Consider it a bonus that he is coming off of a poor performance against an underrated Dallas Defense. Dallas won’t cause a lot of turnovers or show flashy moves but they do have a slow ground and pound style of offense to pair with their bend don’t break defense. It’s a combination that causes even the best fantasy options to disappoint at times. Target Funchess with confidence and start him in Week 2 against a Falcons Defense that is already riddled with injuries.
Royce Freeman – Denver Broncos
This is still Freeman’s backfield and even though we were surprised that he lost touches to Philip Lindsay, we knew he wasn’t getting a full workload to begin with. As for Lindsay. he is an undersized hybrid back coming in at 5’8”, 190 lbs. There is no way he can continue to put his body under that much stress handling such a large workload. Be thankful it was Lindsay who performed so well and not Booker, or else we would have a full blown committee on our hands. Remember, Freeman is 6’0” 238 and performed well while facing the highest percentage of stacked boxes out of all rushers in week 1. There is a lot to look forward to with Freeman so don’t miss out on the best chance to nab him.
