Though there are indeed clouds across the country threatening, they’re unlikely to deliver much DFS disappointment.
Carlos Martinez ($8000): The Cards hurler has picked up the gauntlet as “ace,” at least for the moment. Bearing in mind his 205 innings last year and league leading 848 batters faced, the moniker is deserved. As for this year, Martinez is 1-1, 2.84 with 15 whiffs over 12.6 frames. He’s at home facing the Brewers, who are hitting .236 off right-handers, a favorable matchup.
Joe Mauer ($3700): Mauer is not the batting champ/MVP we have known, but he still knows how to wield a bat as witnessed by his .375 average and .500 OBP. Lefties are hitting .444 against the ‘Stros Dallas Keuchel as all the players are working into a groove. But if the name of the game is generating points, Mauer is a good push.
