Today presents a load of second-tier hurlers, a la Lance McCullers, Johnny Cueto, Masahiro Tanaka, and Alex Wood, as well as some potential offensive stacks with the Rockies facing Caleb Smith (0-3, 5.82). The White Sox, who may be struggling themselves, get to face Eric Skoglund (0-2, 8.59) featuring their special Kaufman weapon, Matt Davidson, who has belted seven of his nine homers at the Royals venue, already setting the single season record for most homers in the park for a visiting player.
As for the weather, it appears all skies are clear for the the RealTime player pool, so pick away, but do remember to check your rosters before first pitch in lieu of late scratches and roster saves.
Tim Anderson ($3400): The Pale Hose second-year man has comported himself well with a .270-3-6 line with nine runs scored, and the right-handed hitter should have some fun facing the eminently hittable Skoglund. Anderson is batting .385 versus lefties with a .407 OBP, while right-handed batters are hitting .340 with a .389 OBP against the KC hurler.
Daniel Mengden ($4300): Mengden gave a glimpse of just how good he could be last September when he went 3-1, 1.54 over 35 innings with 26 whiffs and a stellar 0.859 WHIP. Though the right-hander did struggle his first pair of starts, Mengden seems to have fallen into the slipstream of teammate Sean Manaea, going 2-0, 2.33 over his last three starts with 16 strikeouts over 19.3 frames featuring a 1.034 WHIP. Meanwhile the Astros are hitting .255 versus right-handers, but their 162 strikeouts against right-handers is fourth highest in the American League.
