With the new FedEx season initiated, and Silverado an afterthought, the tour gets exotic moving to Maylaysian capital Kuala Lumpur with the CIMB Classic at TPC Kuala Lumpur.
With the CIMB begins a three-week swing from Malaysia to South Korea, and then onto China with the contests involving 78 invitees and no cuts, meaning for good or bad, picks are in for the duration. In golf, where humiliation or redemption rest with every swing of the club, this can be as bad as good.
Irrespective, the opportunity for points lives with those strokes, so looking for the most efficient relative to course is the way to think.
TPC Kuala Lumpur logs at 7005 yards with four fives and is historically vulnerable to GIR with putting making the difference. So, putting efficiency is where I looked first, along with GIR.

Justin Thomas ($12,400): Winner of consecutive tourneys CIMB’s with great putting makes Thomas a favorite for anyone.
Cameron Smith ($8400): Smith finished third at Kuala Lumpur as a rookie and has been solid, ranking ninth in birdie putt success.
Emiliano Grillo ($7800): Grillo finished 28th at Silverado and is enjoying a fine season with 17 cuts made out of 23 tries.
Martin Flores ($7400): #10 in putting percentage overall and coming off a strong finish at the Safeway.
Richy Werenski ($7000): Werenski finished strong his last six tourneys, making the cut, with improved putting charting the course.
Sung Kang ($6900): Kang, who finished third at the CIMB last year, made the cut last week at Silverado, and he’s made 19 cuts out of 27 tries.
