The PGA Tour stays on the East Coast this weekend as we head to TPC Potomac at Avenel Farm, in Potomac, Maryland for this year’s Quicken Loans National.
If River Highlands, home of last week’s Traveler’s Open, was a shorter course relative to Shinnecock two weeks ago for the Open, TPC Potomac at Avenel Farm is right in between at 7,005 yards. The scorecard shows us just three par fives, though one is a monster 622 yards, and a pair of the four threes are both at 165 yards. The remaining fours vary between 301 and 472 yards, but don’t let the length fool you. Hole #1, at 373, ranks the toughest on the course.

BTW, the weather looks to be warm with some overcast and light breezes, but not much that should cause too much grief to an air-bound ball.
Tiger Woods ($17,400): Tiger recovered from his first-round Open struggles to play pretty well, and at TPC Potomac, those short game skills — he ranks second in GIR with a 93.41% accuracy — should play well. He has made eight of 10 cuts, the Open being one of the two missed. I am willing to take a chance on a big payoff.
Kyle Stanley ($16.000): Taking a shot on last year’s winner, Stanley has three top 15s in his last five tries, along with four top 10s this season. The returning champ/hot hand has made 12 of 14 cuts this year.
Beau Hossler ($15,500): Talk about a hot hand, Hossler has made 10 straight cuts, with 19 of 22 made for the ’17 tour. He is among the best putters as well, averaging a solid 108.77 FPPT.
Gary Woodland ($14,700): Looking towards some value picks, Woodland ranks #14 in GIR under 100 yards with a 89.55% accuracy and has a win and a pair of top 10s. On the other hand, he has missed five cuts over 17 tries but still makes a good gamble.
James Hahn ($12,800): Continuing with the value picks, Hahn has also missed five cuts and scored just one top 10. However, he too rakes it getting on the green under 100 yards, ranking #12 with a 90% average over 170 shots.
Geoff Ogilvy ($11,100): The crapshoot of all crapshoots this week, Ogilvy has converted just four weekends over 15 attempts, but ranks right behind Hahn at #13 hitting the greens in regulation at 89.77%
