Tout Daily on DraftKings continues tonight following a rollicking Week 1 wherein a number of us fell to the bottom of the standings thanks to a truncated performance by Kenta Maeda.
Not a problem for Wise Guy Gene McCaffrey, who logged 145.95 to top the weekly point total followed oh so closely by Baseball Prospectus’ Mike Gianella with 145.45 points, while Bret Sayre grabbed third a little ways off with 129.30.
Thus far Todd Zola, Ray Murphy, Clay Link, and Rick Wolf have earned Golden Tickets to the finals, although Jeff Boggis (81.35 thanks to Maeda) begins his birthday week so ideally he has a clue to the best picks of the day!
You can check out the leaderboard as the season progresses along with a wrap-up on ToutWars every Wednesday.
For the archivists, totals are gathered for all participants over five four-week periods, with the top three point-scorers per period getting golden tickets to the survivor tournament. That’s where the player with the most points after three contests will be crowned champion. Additionally, the highest-scoring player over all 20 weeks earns a wild-card entry to the tournament.
You can see the Touts’ recommendations as participants suggest a pitcher and hitter every Tuesday on the Tout Wars site. And do check your rosters before first pitch as rain is anticipated in Washington and New York.
Max Scherzer (13,300): Thanks to the Maeda meltdown, I am in a hole, so the Scherzer/Corey Kluber dynamic duo is where I am looking to grab pitching points, meaning a bargain basement cluster of hitters. So be it.
Danny Valencia ($3100): Valencia is a personal fave on the low end and a guy who is just heating up (.333-0-2 his last 10 games, raising his season average to .287). Valencia, facing Jason Vargas (8.53 ERA, 1.86 WHIP) is begging for attention.
