Fantasy Stock Market: Week 2 Trade Targets | Buy Low Sell High

It’s week three and we are starting to understand the trends around the league. Some things never change such as Eli Manning’s inability to move the ball down the field. We also have pleasant surprises like Kansas City and Tampa Bay’s utter dominance in the passing game. Regardless, the long term outlook for players may not match the production we see in one week. The quickest way to upgrade your roster is by using those over performing players as trade bait to offer for underperforming players. Using that strategy, the players below should be on all trade radars.

Sell High

Chris Hogan – New England Patriots

Whatever you do, unload all shares of Chris Hogan as soon as possible. The Patriots have just acquired Josh Gordon in a trade with Cleveland for a conditional 5th round pick. Edelman also returns in two weeks meaning there are going to be a ton of mouths to feed in this offense. The deep targets previously expected to go to Hogan are likely going to fall to the freakishly talented Josh Gordon. While Hogan may still have solid games from time to time, it is unlikely that anyone will feel confident in starting him as more than a boom/bust FLEX player. He is currently coming off a multi touchdown game against one of the leagues toughest defenses. This will give Hogan enough trade value to ship off before the darker days ahead.

Marshawn Lynch – Oakland Raiders

Beast mode currently finds himself locked in as an RB2 in all scoring formats. His average of 17 touches per game is also respectable considering he is involved on the ground, in the redzone and in the receiving game. All those factors would lead anyone to believe that Lynch is a great player to own in fantasy which is exactly why you should trade him now. There are numerous underlying concerns in regards to the struggles of this offense and his own inefficiencies. Had it not been for the fact that he reached pay dirt in each of the past two games, he would be averaging a mere 7.9 PPR fantasy points. Considering nobody in their right minds expects Lynch to score in every game, he could be a major disappointment any given week. As of today the aging veteran still holdsplenty of trade value which you should look to cash in before it plummets.

Buy Low

Alshon Jeffery – Philadelphia Eagles

This buy low candidate may not have an immediate payoff but it certainly will be worth the investment. Jeffery remains week to week in an offense that looks like a shell of what it was in 2017. Carson Wentz is expected to return in Week 3 giving this team a spark we haven’t seen yet this season. Meanwhile the receiver depth chart is decimated with injuries. Mack Hollins is on IR and not expected to return until late in the season. Mike Wallace has is also injured and has now been deemed out indefinitely. The Eagles signed Jordan Matthews but is still lacking a vertical threat. This is where Jeffery will play a major role in this offense upon his return. Target teams that need a win right now and are open to trading Jeffery for someone who can help their team win this week. The low cost investment will surely payoff in a matter of weeks.

Lamar Miller – Houston Texans

Nobody wants Lamar Miller. Heck, the Texans don’t even want Lamar Miller. That’s exactly why you should be trading for him. His value is at an all-time low after two underwhelming performances in the first two weeks. Don’t let that scare you away from targeting him because unlike in previous seasons, Miller is playing great football. He is averaging 4.9 YPC and has been the primary pass catching back. He may not have reached the end zone yet but the yardage is still there. In fact, Miller is currently on pace for 1,432 total yards. It has only been two weeks but unlike some of the other overachieving running backs, Miller is underachieving. The Texans have three straight home games which should immediately give him an improved chance at scoring. Don’t get it mistake, Lamar Miller is an RB2. You can gain a major advantage if you can trade for him at FLEX value.
