Possibility of delay or rainout for two games, D’Backs at Mets and Marlins at Braves. The rest of the games appear clear. Today’s pitching matchups are fun with only a few skewed. The top pitchers today are Noah Syndergaard and Stephen Strasburg, but the sleepers are lurking.
Sonny Gray ($5900): Do you like to take a risk? You’re here, aren’t you? Little Sonny did not fulfill his prophesy of becoming ace evident by his current 6.39 ERA. Gray’s unfavorable stats spread rather equally across his splits (A for consistency?) So, why gamble on Sonny? When the stars align for Sonny and his 93 mph fastball, his potential can become kinetic with a possibility of 7 Ks. Sonny’s nemesis is the long ball. Although the Royals have .259 BA, they are 28th in HRs and 23rd for triples. Sonny probably won’t give you Strasburg numbers, but may provide enough fantasy points worthy of a low price to afford Strasburg.
Matt Olson ($4600): Olson has been cold but is starting to warm up again hitting .269 with three HRs last seven games. The lefty doesn’t hit for average so you’re buying his power which is very possible in hitter friendly Rogers Centre with Joe Biagini on the mound.
