Chris Sale v. Gerrit Cole headline tonight’s pitching matchups. With top offenses on both sides, this is probably a game to watch without DFS influence. Carlos Carrasco versus Jose Berrios is another worth keeping an eye on — or potentially avoiding here — and Stephen Strasburg against the Braves will offer plenty of worthwhile at bats to monitor. We’re not seeing any weather concerns aside from a potentially delayed start in Atlanta.
Miles Mikolas ($5300): This is a rematch of last week’s Mikolas v. Jameson Taillon matchup, in which the Cardinals righty came out on top, allowing four earned over six innings with five strikeouts against one walk. Prior to that outing, Mikolas hadn’t allowed more than two earned runs in seven straight starts. He enters with a season-long 2.58 ERA and 0.98 WHIP.
Adam Jones ($4300): The Orioles center fielder is in the midst of a typically under-appreciated season, sitting on nine home runs, 26 RBI, 24 runs and a .281/.297/.464 slash that nearly mirrors last season’s .285/.322/.466 line. Today he’s up against the imminently hittable Sonny Gray, whom Jones has bested at a .294/.294/.529 clip over 17 career at bats. Gray didn’t get out of the fourth inning in his last start, and he’s sitting on a 5.98 ERA and 1.71 WHIP on the year.
