This week, I’m recommending chalk on the mound, and a long shot in the infield.
Blake Snell ($17,100). Truth be told, I couldn’t find anyone in the bottom half of the pitchers to recommend. Snell will cost a bit, but he’s been lights out this year, to the tune of a 2.55 ERA and a .094 WHIP. Snell’s been even better at home, with a 0.95 ERA. Snell has never faced the Braves in his short career, and only Jose Bautista (.200) and Kurt Suzuki (.000) have ever seen him. Snell’s been on a roll, winning four of his last five starts, with the only blemish a 3-2 loss at Detroit.
James McCann ($6,700). OK, I never, ever, ever, thought that I would recommend James MCann in a DFS, but well, never is a long time. He’s cheap (and perhaps deservedly so), but he’s also been doing well. He’s a career .360 hitter in Arlington, and he’s facing a not-very-good Mike Minor tonight. McCann is hitting .444 against lefties this season, and comes in with an impressive .290 average against southpaws over the past three years. With the money you save, you can nab one of the top pitchers on a very thin pitching day.
