This week, I’m taking two incredibly cheap players, leaving you with ample funds to nab a few stars.
Chad Bettis ($3,600). The defending National League Champions can’t hit. Even with Justin Turner’s return, the Dodgers are a poor offensive team, ranked 18th in batting average at a feeble .239. Meanwhile, Betts has a 1.83 road ERA. Couple bad offense with good pitching in a great pitcher’s park, and you have Tuesday’s pitching lock of the day. Betts is the second cheapest option and will perform like the second best pitcher on the schedule. As no-brainers go, this one can’t be topped.
Austin Meadows ($3,600). What do you get when you cross a bad pitcher with a great hitter’s park, with a young stud hitter? You get a buying opportunity. Matt Harvey is bad. He’s been bad for some time, and he’s not getting any better. Cincinnati’s long relievers are bad. Noticing a trend here? Stacking Pirates would be a nice way to compete today, but if you can only choose onek, I’m opting for Meadows. The small MLB sample size doesn’t give much to go on, and minor league numbers are hard to accurately translate, but at $3,600.00, Meadows is priced for a huge profit potential.
