There are a myriad of top pitchers going today, including Max Scherzer, Corey Kluber, James Paxton, Dallas Keuchel and the returns of both Carlos Martinez and Madison Bumgarner. Those picks are easy, but if you want to
save some money for hitting, today’s top pick is Sean Newcomb ($4,800). Newcomb is pitching in pitcher-friendly Petco Park against pitcher-friendly San Diego (.238 batting average at home and a league-leading 330 home strikeouts). Newcomb hasn’t allowed more than three earned runs in a game since April 26 where he let in four, the only time all season. He’s averaging more than one strikeout per inning, and is a bargain priced at just s$4,800.
Khris Davis ($5000). The 16th most expensive outfielder, Davis has a favorable matchup against punching bag lefty Matt Moore. Davis’ career .125 batting average (in just 8 at bats) is due to increase exponentially after tonight’s affair. Vegas has the game with a day high over/under of 10.5, so expect runs to be plentiful, with Davis knocking in the lion’s share.
